A NEW community radio station broadcast from Girvan will go live this week.
Girvan FM, based in the town's Carrick Buildings, will go live at 7am on Friday and will broadcast throughout the month of June.
Girvan FM Programme co-ordinator Nikki Morris worked on the 3TFM project last year covering Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston, and she is confident that the new local station
will be just as successfuL.
She said: "Everything is coming together now for the launch this week. Myself and the team are very busy but it looks like the hard work is going to pay off."
The station is staffed by ten full-time ProjectScotland volunteers, with a number of local volunteers also signed up as presenters and studio workers.
After the great success of 3TPM Community Radio for Health in North Ayrshire, South Ayrshire Council decided to carry out a similar project in Girvan.
Girvan PM is steered hy a partnership of South Ayrshire Council's Regeneration Team, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, Paisley University, Ayr College, and Volunteer Centre South Ayrshire.
The station has been awarded a Restricted Service Licence (RSL) for the month of June. The station is being launched on Friday at its Carrick Buildings base and staff wil also be on hand at Girvan's Lowland Gathering on Sunday.
